There is a Clown in the Entry
"There is a Clown in the Entry" is inspired by a childhood memory my dad shared with me, set in a back alley in Gorton, Manchester. The painting features a young boy holding a teddy bear as he gazes at a clown lying down, his face marked by a painted smile. This visual representation captures the innocence and naivety of childhood, contrasted with the ambiguous presence of the clown—both whimsical and unsettling.

The piece reflects on how we reinterpret and retell the experiences of others through our own perspectives. Rather than replicating my dad's memory exactly, I’ve reimagined it to explore how stories evolve as they are passed down through generations. The painting invites viewers to consider how each retelling blends the original experience with the emotions and perceptions of the storyteller.
